Dear Mr Drew Bear,
Today you are 8 months old. We can't believe it! We are having so much fun with you and time is just flying!
You weight 21 pounds (according to the Wii) which is the same as last month.
You are still wearing size 3 diapers (Although you came home from school once in a size 4 and it didn't seem too big). You are wearing 6-9 months clothes. The shirts and shorts fit you well and there's still room in those. Some of the 6-9 months onesies are getting to be too short. You are still sleeping in one peice sleepers, but are rapidly outgrowing these in length.
In this last month, you have started to crawl! You can really move too. You also learned to pull up to your knees and just a week ago you started pulling up all the way to your feet. You mainly do this at the coffee table or in your crib, but you know that if you can grab hold to any table or ledge you can pull yourself up.
You are still eating solids twice a day. You'll eat one 4 oz jar mixed with cereal at lunch. At dinner you'll eat anywhere from a 1/2 jar to 2 jars depending on how hungry you are. Usually at dinner, we feed you a green veggie (peas, green beans or garden veggies) with a fruit to make it more appealing to you. You are still nursing 5 times a day and eating about 5-7 ounces of milk at each nursing. You still need an early morning feed (anywhere between 3:30 and 6!). I don't think you care for you peas anymore, but you have taken to green beans. You still like your fruit, and I think you are partial to the sweet potatoes.
You are still learning how to drink water from your sippy cup. You are more likely to end up with more water on your shirt than in your mouth, but you are getting the hang of it.
You recently tried some mashed up banana. You did not appear to like it very much. You have also had some puffed cereal (made specially for babies). It took you a few tries, but now you really like them. We'll put one or two on your high chair tray and let you pick them up. The first few times we did this you passed them back and forth in your hands and then eventually threw them on the floor for Stella. Now you eat them and eagerly look for another one!
Your sleeping patterns have not changed much over the past month. You've been waking up more recently due to a cold, but before that you were going to sleep about 7 and getting up anywhere between 6 and 7. You'll take about an hour nap in the moring and then usually a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. You seem to have a pretty regular schedule now.
Before you go to sleep at night or for a nap, you will most likely pull up on the edge of you crib and check things out. You do this for awhile before you get tired enough to fall asleep. You like playing with a book when you lay in your crib for your nap. We still play your music for you at nap time. But the mobile had to come down since you can stand and reach it now.
You really like crawling around and playing with your toys. You will have some time where you are content to sit and play with all the toys around you. Other times you will take off and crawl around the house. If you see Stella, Heineken, or one of Stella's bones you are for sure taking off for that. You like to touch the puppies' paws or ears. They don't like this very much. Sometimes you also grab their fur. Stella is way more tolerant of you than Heineken. Heineken has started grunting at you when you invade her space. I think you already realize this and tend to like Stella more as a result. You also like to try to get Stella's ball from her if she has it. You two have started your own version of chase! You are starting to learn to throw Stella's ball for her!
It's hard to say what your favorite toy is at this time because you like playing with everything! You have figured out how to push the button on your poppy ball toy so that now entertains you for awhile. But you like everything! You like to hold the book when we are reading. Usually our stories go unfinished these days because you will grab the book before the end.
If you can see a pacifier, you reach for it and plop it in your mouth. You like having the pacifier, but when I ask you to take it out you will do so without complaint.
You are getting ticklish! Raspberries will still make you smile and occasionally giggle if you are in the mood for it, but tickling your armpits is practically a guaranteed giggle!
Even though you like to be on the floor or crawling around, you will still sit with us and snuggle on occasion especially when you are tired.
You are less likely to put something in your mouth as soon as you grab it. Most things do still end up in your mouth, but now you are more likely to investigate it first.
If you are fussing or crying in your crib for you first morning feed, and the hallway light comes on, you will get quiet and sit and wait for me to come in. You are really figuring things out!
You are such a joy! We have so much fun chasing you around now and playing together! We can't wait to see what this next month will bring!
We love you, Drew!
