First Time on the Boat

This past weekend, we finally got the boat out!  We weren't really sure what Drew would make of boating but we had been anxious to find out!  We decided to take his bouncer and bumbo seat so that he could have a seat too if he needed it.  We ended up using the bouncer a lot but not the bumbo (we left him unbuckled in the bouncer for safety reasons).  The bouncer ended up working out really well.  We just braced the bouncer so it didn't bounce as much when we were cruising and it was perfect!

Here Drew is rocking his hat and shades waiting for us to get the boat in the water.  He looks like he's supervising his daddy who was in the captain's chair!  (Momma was backing the truck/boat into the water).

Our friends, Jeanette and Travis and their 6 month old daughter, Lucy, came with us on the boat.  Lucy is just 7 weeks older than Drew so family outings for us just makes perfect sense!  Jeanette and Travis had a great time, but Lucy wasn't as easily convinced.  She was happy when Brian was driving fast but when we were idling for any reason she was not entirely thrilled.  We think she just needs to get more used to the life jacket probably!

Drew even shared his bouncer with Lucy!

Drew did so well on the boat; we couldn't believe it!  Brian said Drew fussed a little when they were first in the boat, but he quickly fell asleep in his bouncer.  In fact, Drew slept for about 90% of the time we were on the boat!  I guess it was just too soothing rocking on the water for him to stay awake.  At one point when he woke up, I got Drew out of the bouncer and sat with him in the front of the boat while we cruised.  I was telling him all sorts of things about boating and the water, but I soon realized he was asleep again!  It's hard to tell with his sunglasses on because we can't see his eyes.

Now we can't wait to get back out on the lake for round #2!
