Dear Drew,
You are 15 months old today! (Or if your uncle Josh is reading, you are 1.25 years). We can't believe another 3 months has flown by.
You are wearing 12 months clothes and some 18 months clothes. You are in size 4 diapers and size 4 shoes. At your last doctor appointment (2-8-13) you weighed 24 lbs 10 oz (90%) and measured 30.5 inches (50%) tall! You are right on your growth curve. You have 11 teeth now!
Since your birthday, there has been so much going on and so many changes!
You went on your first international flight and spent 2 weeks in Thailand. You were an amazing traveler! Your favorite was the pool!
At daycare, you moved into the older room. The big change with the new room is it meant only one nap per day instead of two. It took you a few weeks to get used to one nap, but now you are napping two hours at school and sometimes longer when you nap at home. Either way, you consistently sleep 12 hours each night.
You just adore being in the bigger room. Your teachers were surprised that you took the transition so well. For us, dropping you and picking you up is now easier because you love playing with your big friends! You love your new teachers too. When you get there in the morning, you run over to your teacher and give her a hug! You are just ready to be a big boy and when you were in the room with the younger babies, you weren't having as much fun. You love your outside time too. You are starting to go down the slide!
You started signing hungry! You are making more sounds that sound like words all the time! Dog, cat, car are all words you have mastered. You are starting to mimic Momma and Dadda's sounds/words now, uh oh!
Your favorite foods are pastas (mac n cheese, and tortellini) and fruits. You are a really good fruit eater. But it's really hard to get you to eat vegetables. Your teachers tell us that you eat anything at school and don't throw food on the floor. Now if we could only bring those good habits home with us, we'd be all set.
You are fairly attached to your bottle and get mad at us when we try to give you milk in a sippy cup. Although we are making some progress, and at school they can get you drink milk from a cup. We are still working on it though. So you are only drinking about 12 oz of milk a day. Luckily, you love yogurt and cheese so you are still getting enough calcium.
Drew, you are just the most amazing boy ever. You understand the words/sign, "I love you" and you will giggle and smile when we tell you that. Sometimes you will point back or start waving. You will put your head on us (or the dogs) when we ask for a kiss or a hug. It is the sweetest gesture, and it makes Momma's heart melt every time. You are also starting to blow kisses!
You are fiercely independent. We will offer our hand when we are walking and come to a step. You only take our hand rarely - mainly if its new territory. You are able to play by yourself for extended time periods. Even if we try to play a game with you, sometimes you will walk away because you'd rather play by yourself. You still love your books though and daily we read books together, usually when you are tired.
Besides books, you really like playing catch or dribbling Daddy's soccer ball around the house. You also really like the ball popping machine that Aunt Renee and Uncle Jason sent you for Christmas. We think you really like its music because you regularly start the toy up and walk away. But you also like to put other toys, blocks, your socks, into the chute. And you like feeling the air from it on your face. You also still really like taking things out and putting them back in (like out/in your toy box, dresser drawers, dog's basket). Because of this, you are fairly good at cleaning up which we have added to our pre-bed ritual.
You like to have fun and a lot of things make you smile or giggle. You are also at the stage where you get insanely upset if you aren't allowed to do something you want to do. Usually it's fairly easy to distract you and get your mind off of the forbidden item.
You know that a lion roars and you will mimic an elephant when you see a picture of one. I think you love all the different kinds of animals and especially like looking at them in your books.
You are getting pretty good at doing puzzles and it's just amazing to see how much you learn each day and how fast you learn it! You know where your nose, belly and toes are.
We love you!
Momma and Dadda
