Florida!

Last weekend, I took the boys to Florida, somewhat spontaneously. My brother, Josh, was going to visit our parents with his daughter Sydney. I checked flights and decided to go for a few days. We just squeaked Landon in as a lap child too.

We left Saturday morning. Unfortunately, Friday morning Landon woke up with a fever and ear infection and it was still bothering him on Saturday. He was quite fussy at the airport and getting on the plane. He did settle down after take off, but it was an off day for him. Even after we got to Papa and Boppi's, he was still upset and fussy. Boppi was finally able to calm him down by turning on Kung Fu Panda. Meanwhile, Drew and I went swimming!

Josh and Sydney arrived to my parents house later that evening. Landon and Sydney immediately became best friends. The boys really liked rough-housing with Uncle Josh too. At first, they weren't so sure of the monkey, but by the end of the trip, Landon wasn't too scared of Uncle Monkey Josh and actually made monkey noises back at him.

Sunday was a day full of swimming. It was a little chilly outside, but with a heated pool, it didn't stop us! Drew and Landon both loved swimming in the pool. I limited each swim lesson to about an hour as I couldn't take much more, but I think both boys would have stayed in all day had I let them. Landon is just becoming quite a handful in the pool. He's at an age where he wants to do everything by himself. And apparently, he thinks he can swim. He wasn't happy with me when I would put my arms out to catch him. Silly boy. Needless to say, he went under water quite a few times over the weekend, but it never seemed to bother or upset him (he may have just wanted to straighten his hair). In fact, he seems to be good at holding his breath when he does that because he never came up coughing either. Now if he can figure out how to float or swim, he'll be all set.

Monday we made our way to the beach in the afternoon for a quick walk in the sand. Landon was a little fussy for the beach trip, so he wasn't too interested in walking in the sand on his own. Drew loved it and spent the entire 1.5 hour near the water. He found a sea shell that he is also very proud of, and he ended up bringing that one home and another one that Syd-bug found for him.

We left on Tuesday, but had a later flight, so we were able to fit in one more swim in the morning that day.

For the most part, our flights were uneventful. Landon was fussy off and on both ways, but it was doable. Fortunately none of our flights were full so we were able to get an extra seat for Landon (entire row for us) even though his ticket was a lap child.

We had such a great trip, I'm so glad we went! The boys (and me) really miss everyone today, Landon especially misses Sydney. We are all a little tired today as we got back into our normal routine, but what a great trip!

Oh, just pushing the walker around

Drew loved the beach and water, he liked just standing there and letting his feet sink in.
