While we didn't do a party for Landon's first birthday, we did invite some friends over for dinner and cupcakes. Our friends, Kevin and Susannah and Peyton and Cecily came over to help us celebrate Landon! Peyton and Drew play really well together, and even though Drew was still overly tired he eventually woke up and really warmed up! Landon had fun playing with the older boys and Cecily slept the entire time (because she's only 5 weeks old). :)
Brian grilled out burgers for us and we all enjoyed the dinner. Drew and Peyton would have preferred to eat cupcakes for dinner, but were good sports when we told them they had to eat their hot dogs and vegetables first. They were very excited when we said it was cupcake time.
I had made a banana cupcake with peanut butter frosting. The cupcake was very similar to a muffin, but that was ok. I liked that it seemed a little healthier for Landon than a traditional flavor. The highlight of the evening was watching Landon DEVOUR his cupcake. He was ready for it. He wanted it right away even though he had never had a cupcake before and would have no idea what was in store for him. He attempted to shove the entire thing in his mouth at once, and ended up with a mouthful of frosting. It was apparently delicious because he kept eating until the entire thing was gone. He did not like having some on his fingers and hands though because he would keep trying to shake it off. That was not working so well for him though.
The boys went to bed not long after cake, and the adults were able to play some cards and games! We played tripoly, Zero, and Euchre. It was almost midnight by the time we called it a night! What fun times!
